Dallas Coyle Borrowing Ideas and talking shit... metalsucks.net blog

I haven’t done a blog in a while because the last blog I did really got me thinking about the mentality of people in the metal scene. Most particularly, the mentality of shit talking. We’re all guilty of it. I admitted to shit talking Bring Me The Horizon in magazines over in Europe when I was in God Forbid. I never heard them at that point. But now, I dig them and I feel pretty stupid for slagging them. In my last blog I mentioned my excitement for the band Eryn Non Dae and how I was going to… Continue

Dallas Coyle Working On New Music (The Lesson)

Everyone out there should really find a creative outlet in any way they can. Whether it's writing, music, acting, fucking... whatever. It's healthy and it can put you in a good place. Life hands us twists and turns and in those moments the only one you can help is yourself. Look inward for the answer, not outward. No one will understand you so now one can truly give you what you want. Don't deny yourself the capacity of doing something great. Yes, try. You may fail but you have to soldier on. T… Continue

Dallas Coyle Live show, putting a band together and toon porn!

I wanted to turn you guys on to some new music I’ve been rocking… drum roll… Eryn Non Dae from France. I found out about these fucks through Metalsucks.net. I’ll tell you, this shit is great. I listened to it three times in one day. It’s like Neurosis, Meshuggah, and Coalesce. I’m loving it. My new project will definitely be borrowing some of their ideas. The new Behemoth. Nuff said. It’s Behemoth. The whole album kicks ass. Also, Colin Richardson killed on the mix. It sounds amazing and feroc… Continue

Gabriel RabbleRabbleRabble!

I soon hope to upload a song, attain some new demo cd artwork, and to practice as often as possible. My goal being that soon, I can finally get something out. A good, solid, stable build is always better than a rapid toss into succession. You'll then become succeeded. See? Stayin' alive. Soon. Continue

Matt Zuleger Drums...

As a musician, constantly growing my skills as a guitar player, I find the need for a band. I have a singer, and he is great at what he does it is just that the main piece missing for me is a drummer. Currently I am using Beatbox and EZDrummer for drums. But I am passionate about what I do and I take my songwriting very seriously, so adding a drummer would open up the possibilities of live shows. Though my dad is an exeptional drummer, first of all he doesn't play metal but plays jazz, and secon… Continue

Phil Creswell A brief introduction

Hi, My name is Phil Creswell, I'm from Wisconsin but I live in Sweden now--up north in a small city called Umeå. Umeå, for those of you not in the know, is actually a pretty impressive town. Bands you may know from here: Refused; Naglfar; Meshuggah; Nocturnal Rites; Persuader; Ancient Rites; Torn Apart.. actually the list goes on. I've written an entire album and demoed it all on my computer with GarageBand. The project is called Æthereal and, without sounding too cocky, I'm pretty fond of the… Continue

Dallas Coyle Guitar Lessons

What's up everyone!? My bro is on vacation right now but I spoke to him and he's going to be giving guitar lessons! He's a bad ass guitar player (much better than me) and he can teach you any metal you want to learn. Soon we will have a section for him on the site. Guitarists from NJ/NYC will be really excited. Rock Dallas Continue

Dallas Coyle The New Album (Vocals)

What’s up party peoples? I just got back from LA after finishing up the vocals for the new album. After hearing this record for almost a year now I can say I’m tired of it and excited for it at the same time. Is that possible? We worked on the vocals for a month when we thought it would take two weeks. This has been the M.O. with this record. The label is pissed off because we didn’t meet certain deadlines, we’re pissed because the person who was supposed to mix it pulled out on us last minute.… Continue

Dallas Coyle The Hard R 19 (Conservatives vs Liberals)

Conservative Vs Liberal Now that Obama is the presumptive Democratic nominee, things have become really boring with this presidential race. The best thing about it now is watching these Republican and Democratic strategists push their agendas. It truly is sad sometimes when you see a person give themselves a title that paints them into a corner so they have a place to fight from. Conservative. Liberal. Progressive. These titles people give themselves show how hard it is for them to find their… Continue

Dallas Coyle Graphic Novel (My New Band)

I'm starting a new band. Check out the Graphic Novel songs for me. Most recently I put up 'Dial It Out' which is actually from the band Bulb. Usually when I sing over music that's not mine I put it under GN for me. The other songs of that ilk are the GN songs, 'Ophiuchus' and 'XOXO'. Let me know what you think of those songs. Continue

Dallas Coyle The Hard R (Touring)

The Touring Game Touring is a rough animal. Last week I went into a tirade about a promoter who stiffed us on cash. It may have been a little harsh but fuck it. Eventually we will be paid because there is a contract when we play. We get guarantees unless we’re doing bar shows where we do door deals. In all honesty, unless we’re getting a 3,000 and up guarantee, door deals can be fruitful. Some of the comments about my last blog were eye opening because there is no ‘one’ way to promote a show.… Continue

Dallas Coyle The Hard R 15 (Promoters)

What's up motherfuckers? Yesterday we played a show in Tempe, Arizona. Unfortunately, we played up against the Gigantour. Bad fucking idea. That was just the first bad idea involving yesterdays show. Second bad idea was booking the show with a promoter who couldn't cover his ass. When you're on the road most people would like to say it's all about the music. Well, it is and it isn't. With the cost of gas going up, the cost of crew and the need for the bands and clubs to make money, putting on a… Continue

armand makeing a band

so last time i wrote about copywrite and today i aim to talk about getting your band together . this may seem like a weird way to order things but it IS logical . because if you have never written a song then you dont need to be in a band yet because you probly have nothing original to contribute to that band. so if you have got a few songs and a bunch of lil riffs in your head you need a band . first you need to decide if you want one guitarist or two ... if you want two, find them both and hav… Continue
